EDUCATION
    REFORM

Two direct challenges in Alaska is our current state constitution only allows "direct" funding of public education, and the National Education Association (NEA) has undo influence on the legislature. NEA promotes a brand of progressive, liberal policies which have very little to do with education and much to do with "indoctrination."

The current position of NEA is to demand more funding for public education with no accountability. Today, Alaska ranks 3rd in funding but ranks at the bottom in education outcomes with no benchmarks.

Additionally, the public education construct is extremely overburdened with administrative structure.

An example is, California has 75 separate schools districts for 5.8 million students while Alaska has 54 separate school districts for 120 thousand students. Maintaining this massive administrative structure drains essential funding from the classroom where is belongs.

The American Party of Alaska knows that Education Choice is the only alternative. It is the relationship between the parent and child which is essential in planning education options for their children. Multiple choices will always provide better results.

The "Blaine Amendment" needs to be rendered to the trash heap of history and absolute MEASURABLE tool need to be embedded in the entire education
construct.

While the American Party of Alaska believes in free associations, we are adamantly opposed to collectives or unions controlling outcomes other than a result of excellence in academic performance.
